Description	:	John A. Miller was born in Germany October 10, 1842. In the year 1856 he with his family emigrated to America, where they settled in the state of Wisconsin. In November 1861 he enlisted in Co. H., 1st Wisconsin Cavalry, and served his country until his discharge in July 1864. In January 1868 he was joined in holy wedlock to Miss Albertina Hoffman. In March 1873 he moved to Merrick County, where he homesteaded. In 1914 he retired from active farm life and spent the remaining days of his earthly life in the village of Palmer. His wife and one... Read More	John A. Miller was born in Germany October 10, 1842. In the year 1856 he with his family emigrated to America, where they settled in the state of Wisconsin. In November 1861 he enlisted in Co. H., 1st Wisconsin Cavalry, and served his country until his discharge in July 1864. In January 1868 he was joined in holy wedlock to Miss Albertina Hoffman. In March 1873 he moved to Merrick County, where he homesteaded. In 1914 he retired from active farm life and spent the remaining days of his earthly life in the village of Palmer. His wife and one child preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn, twelve children, forty-five grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one brother. He had reached the age of eighty-five years, nine months and twenty-five days. Interment was made at the Worms Cemetery. Mr. Miller was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church, and was one of the charter members of the Worms congregation, being an active member there for some forty years from where he came to Palmer, his zeal and interest in the welfare of the church and the kingdom of his Savior, being equally great.
