Larson Rites Held Saturday: Funeral services for John Albert Larson, 87, Ewing, were held at the Methodist Church in Ewing Saturday, September 3. He died Wednesday, August 31, 1966 at Antelope Memorial Hospital where he had been hospitalized. Rev. James Conway, Wheaton, Ill., officiated at the 2 p.m. service. Hymns were sung by a male quartet, Leo and Walter Miller, Archie Johnston and Wendell Switzer. Mrs. Wilber Spangler was organist. Dewitt Hoke, Wayne and Lynn Fry, Robert McDaniels, John Angus and William Lofquest were active casket bearers. Honorary bearers were Donald Gene Starr, Leonard Larson Jr., John A. Larson, Tom Christon, Larry and Lyle Larson. Interment was made in the Ewing Cemetery. John Albert Larson, son of John and Elizabeth Jacobsen Larson, was born at Shetland Island near Copenhagen, Denmark, August 22, 1879. He came to the United States with his family as a small boy. They settled in the Ewing vicinity. He owned and operated meat markets in several towns and owned and operated a farm near Ewing for 27 years before his retirement. He was married to Miss Zella Catherine Angus on January 6, 1904 at Neligh. They were the parents of four daughters and two sons. He was a member of the Methodist Church for over 50 years. Survivors include his wife, Zella; four daughters, Mrs. Henry (Eleanor) Reimer, Ewing, Mrs. Carl (Altha) Christon, Midland, Tex., Mrs. Elmer (Elsie) Pahl, Fremont, and Mrs. Donald (Marie) Starr, West Point; two sons: Leonard, North Platte, and Donald, Ewing; 14 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren; three bothers, Clyde, Sioux City, William, Oklahoma City, Okla., and Everett, Oakland, Calif.
