Description	:	DIED John A. Dunaway died very suddenly last Thursday morning on the 17th day of July. The immediate cause of his death was organic disease of the heart. He has been ailing for some time and on the morning of his death came to town to consult a physician. To rest awaile, he took a seat on the porch of the Harney Park hotel. Dunaway died very suddenly last Thursday morning on the 17th day of July. The immediate cause of his death was organic disease of the heart. He has been ailing for some time and on the morning of his death came to town to consult a physician. To rest awaile, he took a seat on the porch of the Harney Park hotel. He complained of feeling bad and Mrs. Little being informed took the old gentleman into the house and laid him on a couch; and a doctor was sent for. When he arrived he found that life had been extinct for several minutes. Mr. Dunaway was 70 years 9 months and 4 days old. He was born in Indiana and came west when quite young. While in Wisconsin, he was married and to this union 3 daughters and 2 sons were born. Mr. Dunaway followed railroad work and for many years was section foreman on the Burlington lines in Nebraska. Seven years ago he perchased the ranch on Spring creek below Hill City which has been his home ever since. The deceased leaves his wife, 2 daughters and 2 sons. John and Victoria lived on a farm in Seward Co. Their eldest child, Ethel, was born here in 1879. Victoria's sister Amanda and her husband Charles lived in the same house. 1887 Feb Age: 38 Residence: Creighton, Cass, Missouri. John and Victoria lived here at the time of Zena's birth. John was a railroad section foreman (as his stated occupation on Zena's birth record.) 1891 Aug Age: 42 Residence: La Grande, Union, Oregon. John and Victoria came from Seward, NE to La Grande. Victoria's parents Edward and Almira moved from Wisconsin to La Grande at this time. 1900 Age: 52 Residence: Beaver, Nuckolls, Nebraska. John and Victoria are living in a rented house in Beaver, Nebraska. John continued to work as a railroad section foreman. Ethel had married Michael Smith, a locomotive engineer, and moved to South Dakota. The other four children were at home still. Burial: Hot Springs, Fall River, South Dakota.
