While a young many, he was baptized and united with the German Lutheran Church at York. O Dec 23, 1869 he was united in marriage to Miss Amanda Strausbough, is death having occurred on their 70th wedding anniversary. To this union 10 children were born, all of whom survive their father with the exception of one daughter, Mrs. Daisy Seigel, who preceded him in death. The family came to a farm near Aurelia, 52 years ago and moved to the Rembrandt community 17 years later. They have lived in Rembrandt more than 20 years. His immediate family left to mourn his loss is his widow, four sons, Jake of Minneapolis, Will of Towner, N.Dakota, Howard of Cherokee, Lyle of Storm Lake; five daughters, Mrs. Anna Wright of Sioux Rapids, Mrs. Minnie Mahn of Cherokee, Mrs. Carrie Armstrong of Mattoon, Ill., Mrs. Cora Becker of Grand View, Washington, and Mrs. Mabel Kidman of Storm Lake. one brother, Eli Krout of Astoria, Ill. and one sister, Mrs. Eliza Rohrbaugh of Peterson, besides 64 grandchildren and 59 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Will and Frank Mummert and Mrs. Connie Mummert and granddaughter of Aurelia, Mrs. E. Rohrbaugh, Mrs. and Mrs. Charles Rohrbaugh and Harvey Rohrbaugh were among those who attended the services from out of town. The deceased, together with his aged wife, enjoyed vigorous good health to a remarkable degree until last spring when an operation revealed a cancerous underarm growth which finally resulted in his death. Many large family gatherings held in their home during past years havae been immensely enjoyed by the respected couple. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the home at 2 o'clock and at the Rembrandt Methodist church at 2:30 with Rev. S. J. Wallace in charge. Music was furnished by a mixed quartet consisting of Misses Joyce Albertson and Arlene Burwell. R. L. Cannoy and son, Gene Connoy with Lloyd Pressel, a great grandson of the deceased at the piano. Pallbearers were R. J. Siefken, Jess Merchant, Edgar Eastman, Jake Spears, and J. K. Haraldson. Interment was in Lone Tree cemetery near Sioux Rapids.
