He had light hair, blue eyes and was 5 feet 101/2 inches tall On 27 May 1864, received an injury to mouth and self while in the line of duty near Lovejoy Station, Georgia when he fell into a rebel rifle pit. He was mustered out with his company December 5, 1865 at San Antonia, Texas June 5 1880 John applied for a government pension because of his war injuries and received $8.00 a month until his death. He never married.
