John married to Permillia A. McKissick on May 27, 1861, in Moniteau, Missouri. John Calvin (Bud) Hill was in his teens as a Confederate Soldier, along with his brother, Washington, and some of the Suggs, Hallfords, Allees and other member of the family. Near Springfield in November 1861, Washington died. John buried his brother near a tree and returned home to Pilot Grove. John then went back with a wagon, disinterred his brother's grave and brought Washington's body home for burial in the Sandy Hill Cemetery. In 1850, he was living with his parents and four siblings in District 58, Moniteau, Missouri. He, his parents, and one remaining sibling were still in the same county, in Township 45, Range 16, in 1860. He was married to Permillia A. McKissick on May 27, 1861, in Moniteau, Missouri. In 1880, he, his wife, and four of their children were living in Pilot Grove, Moniteau, Missouri. He was still living here with one son in 1900. He still lived here, by himself, in 1920. He died on May 11, 1921, and is buried at the Sandy Hill Family cemetery in Moniteau, Missouri. RESERACHER: Richard Parker John Calvin "Buds" Hill was in his teens when as a Confederate soldier, along with his brother, Washington and some of the Suggs, Hallfords and Allees and other members of the Hill family fought in the Civil War. Down near Springfield, Missouri in November 1861, Washington died and John buried his brother, then came home to Pilot Grove, Missouri. John went back with a wagon, disenterred his brother's grave and brought Washington's body home for burial. Washington was buried in the family cemetery known as the Sandy Hill Cemetery about three miles east of California, Missouri. The cemetery at this time was located on the family farm. In March of 1917 there was an influenza epidemic that killed many people, both the young and the old. Elizabeth (Hill) Suggs, John Calvin, and Mary Anne (Suggs) Howard all died in one week.
