Fullerton, son of Hardman Philip and Eliza Clester Fullerton, died at the Long-term Care Unit of the Jewell County Hospital at the age of 94. He had made his home there for 4-1/2 years after his health failed. In 1915, he was united in marriage to Cylinda Jeanette Elyea at Red Cloud, NE. Seven children were born in this marriage. Fullerton, son of Hardman Philip and Eliza Clester Fullerton, died at the Long-term Care Unit of the Jewell County Hospital at the age of 94. He had made his home there for 4-1/2 years after his health failed. In 1915, he was united in marriage to Cylinda Jeanette Elyea at Red Cloud, NE. Seven children were born in this marriage. One infant daughter, Barbara Jean, died in 1916. Their married life was spent farming in Jewell County. His wife died in 1933; and single handedly he managed to raise and educate his six children through the "dirty thirties." He was an industrious, hard working man, always willing to lend a helping hand. John was a strict father, always stressing truthfulness, honesty and self-reliance. He served as a school board member for many years. In later years, he worked for other farmers doing field work, and was especially proud of the miles of straight, stong fences he had built. One son, Philip, passed away with leukemia in 1977. John is survived by four daughters, Charlotte Murray and Helen Huffman both of Mankato, Iva Lea Metz of Bothell, WA and Audrey Jacobson of Riverside, CA; one son, Charles Richard of Superior, NE; three sons-in-law, Aaron Murray, Paul Huffman and Homer Metz; two daughters-in-law, Donna Fullerton and Lu Fullerton of Northglenn, CO; one sister, Dora Howell of Meadow Vista, CA; eighteen grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Monday, July 11, 1988, at 10:00 a.m., at the Kramer Funeral Home, Mankato, KS, with Pastor Jerry Milleson officiating. Interment was in Wallace Cemetery, Jewell, KS. The family suggests memorials to the Jewell County Hospital or Montrose Church.
