Interment was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery. John Charles Walter was born in Victor Feb. 13, 1878, and passed away after a week in the Lutheran Hospital at Des Moines, Jan. 8. He had been in failing health for two years. Mr. Walter was the second son of William and Caroline Walter. Married to Bertha Hart On Feb. 7, 1906, he was married to Bertha Hart, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Havil Hart of Victor. To this union were born 3 daughters, the eldest dying in infancy. Mr. and Mrs. Walter moved to Des Moines shortly after their marriage. He was employed by the Dempster Machine Co., and the C. L. Herring Motor Co., most of his years in Des Moines. For the past 35 years he has been an active member of the First Presbyterian church there. He is survived by his wife, Bertha; two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Sorenson of Arlington, VA., and Mrs. Martha Merrill of Fairborn, OH., three granddaughters; one sister, Ellen Walter of Victor and four brothers, Will and Ed of Victor, Frank of Hudson and Elmer of Deep River.
