Description	:	John Christian Grimm son of Christian Paul Grimm and Catherine Elizabeth Grimm was born near Zweilbruckin Germany March 12th 1814. Died in Springfield, Annapolis County, Nova Scotia, April 6th 1902. Aged 88 years and 24 days. On January 27th 1842 he was united in holy matrimony to Sarah Ann Lohnes of Middle LaHave, Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia, who still survives him. This union was blessed with seven children, two of whom died in infancy. Read More	John Christian Grimm son of Christian Paul Grimm and Catherine Elizabeth Grimm was born near Zweilbruckin Germany March 12th 1814. Died in Springfield, Annapolis County, Nova Scotia, April 6th 1902. Aged 88 years and 24 days. On January 27th 1842 he was united in holy matrimony to Sarah Ann Lohnes of Middle LaHave, Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia, who still survives him. This union was blessed with seven children, two of whom died in infancy. There are five sons living, William, at home unmarried; John, Simon, James and Albert all being within less than one half mile of home. Mr. Grimm was one of the earky settlers of Springfield, and by honesty and an upright life had won the confidence of the entire community. He was postmaster and Justice of the Peace for over thirty years, only resigning the latter about two years ago. He, together with his now widowed companion united with the Lutheran Church in early life. Not often do we find two walking so agreeably together throughout the pathway of life. Nor do we often find two possessing so many Christian virtues. They had but recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Mr. Grimm was a pleasing conversationalist. For many years he taught school; was a great reader and was well posted in all the current news. Above all he was well posted in the Bible and in the teachings of his church, could quote scripture very readily. While loyal to the church of his choice yet he was charitable to others. By hard labor and frugality he had obtained a comfortable home as well as assisted his sons to homes. Nothing pleased him more than to tell that he had his children near him. He was always kind to his family. His prayer was that the Lord would call him home without a lingering illness. His prayers were truly answered. He has as usual taken his seat and asked the Lord's blessing and began to eat when his granddaughter noticed by his face that something was wrong, she summoned help. In about ten minutes he passed peacefully away without apparent pain. He was buried on the 8th. The services were conducted by Rev. C.H. Little, his pastor, Rev. L.M. McCreery, a former pastor, preaching the sermon from 1 Thess.,v 10, after which his remains followed by a large concourse of relatives, friends and neighbors, were conducted to his cemetery near by and laid to rest to await the resurrection morn. May the Lord grant the aged widow grace to sustain her in her late bereavement. And may the Christian example of the departed one be an incentive to noble lives, not only in his own posterity, but in all who had the pleasure of his acquaintance. With thanks to Rosemary Rafuse.
