Kroener, Jr., aged 46, formerly of Melbourne and this city, died Saturday night at 7:15 at the home of his sister, Mrs. W. A. Thompson, 211 West South street, of ulcers of the stomach. Kroener, Jr., aged 46, formerly of Melbourne and this city, died Saturday night at 7:15 at the home of his sister, Mrs. W. A. Thompson, 211 West South street, of ulcers of the stomach. He had been in a very serious condition for the past six weeks, during which time he had been at his sister's home. John Christian Kroener was born at Melbourne Aug. 6, 1869 and had lived there much of his life. He was united in marriage with Miss Ida Stller, of Cedar Falls, who died, three months after their wedding. Twenty-five years ago on May 28 Mr. Kroener lost his left leg in a railroad accident, when he was employed as a brakeman for the Milwaukee and got his foot caught in a frog while switching at Van Horn. Mr. Kroener is survived by his father, J. C. Kroener, of Albion, two sisters; Mrs. W. A. Thompson, of this city, and Mrs. James J. Filer, of Melbourne and one brother, George W. Kroener, of Melbourne. Funeral services will be held from the Methodist church at Melbourne Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
