Read More	Belleville (KS) Telescope - 13 Dec 1923 John David Monroe Dovel John David Monroe Dovel was born in Page County, Virginia, December 16, 1830 and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Thomas, south of Narka in Republic county, Kansas, December 7, 1923, at the age of 92 years, 11 months and 21 days. He was married to Mary Anderson in latter 1868 in Virginia to which union was born one son, who preceded him in death after death of wife. On December 14, 1875 he married Eliza Ann Koontz. To them two children were born, Mrs. Frank Thomas of south of Narka and Wm. David Dovel of Delphos, Kansas. The family came west in 1882 and lived one year in Nebraska and moved the next year to a farm south of Narka in Republic county, Kansas. In this county and town he spent the rest of his life. After the death of his wife, he made his home with his daughter. Mr. Dovel joined the Dunkard church when a young man back in his native state and continued in that faith until death. He leaves his two children and seven grandchildren and many friends and acquaintances. The funeral services were held at the Methodist Episcopal church at Narka by the pastor, Rev. N.J. Adams at 11 A.M. Sunday, December 9th, 1923. The remains were laid to rest beside those of his wife in the Ida cemetery southwest of Narka.
