Description	:	Son of Theophilus and Martha (Sargent) Allan, John was a lumberman like his father. Later he was a mail contractor and ran a hotel in Dennysville. He was married three times, first to Margaret S. Hersey in 1860 who died in 1873, second to Emma J. He was married three times, first to Margaret S. Hersey in 1860 who died in 1873, second to Emma J. Corthell in 1874 with whom he had a daughter Fannie Louise who died young and sons Herbert and Walter. Emma died at age 49 in 1903. He was married thirdly to Nellie S. (Dyer) Hussey in 1904. John ran the Allan Hotel in which he had built in 1896 on the site of the much earlier Ebenezer Wilder home and Inn in Dennysville. His sons later took over operation of the Hotel. In the 1880 census John was 41, a hotel keeper and farmer of Dennysville, wife Emma J was 25 and they had a son Herbert H. aged 3. In the 1900 census in Dennysville John was 61, a dealer in agricultural products, and wife Emma J. was 45, 3 children, 2 of whom were living. With them were children Herbert H., age 23 and Walter M. age 15. In the 1900 census he had a wife Emma and son Herbert H. Allan in the household and was a hotel keeper and farmer in Dennysville. John was 41 at the time and Emma was 25, son Herbert age 3. On Oct 19, 1904 he married Mrs. Nellie S. Dyer of Bakersfield, California. He was residing in Dennysville and the marriage took place in Clinton Maine. John was age 65; Nellie was age 55. At that time his occupation was that of lumberman. She had been born in Unity Maine, her 2nd and his 3rd marriage. By 1910 he was 71, m 3 times and for 5 yrs, and wife Nellie L. or S. was 61 m 2times for 5 yrs and had 1 child still living. His wives Margaret and Emma share a stone beside him with daughter of Emma to the right of their stone.
