Description	:	Nellie was the daughter of Ebenezer Pattee Dyer born in Thorndike, Maine, a cabinet maker, and his wife Harriet Hunter born in Clinton Maine. They had been married Dec 14, 1846 in Unity, Waldo County, Maine. Her father was a deaf/mute. Nellie may have been born with the name Sarah as that was how she was enumerated in the 1850 census in Unity with her parents. They had been married Dec 14, 1846 in Unity, Waldo County, Maine. Her father was a deaf/mute. Nellie may have been born with the name Sarah as that was how she was enumerated in the 1850 census in Unity with her parents. Her mother died in 1854 and Sarah was living with the Hersey or Hussey family in the 1860 census in Belfast Maine. Nellie was married to J. H. Hussey July 13, 1868 in Clinton Maine. In the 1870 census Nellie was living in Clinton, Kennebec County, Maine, age 21 with husband Julius H. Hussey age 26. They had a son Ralph H. 9 mos of age. Julius was a blacksmith and owned his home in Clinton. In the 1880 census Nellie and Julius were living in Washoe Nevada. Nellie was 31 and Julius was age 36. Son Ralph was age 10 in this census and Julius was still a blacksmith. All were born in Maine with parents born in Maine. Nellie's father lived with another family for a time after the death of his wife and then in 1889 he committed suicide in Unity on a Sunday morning. He was a deaf mute age 67 and had been living with Hon. Joseph Farwell. (Portland Daily Press June 11, 1889.) In the 1900 census Nellie was in Bakersfield, Kern County, California and widowed, age 51. She was living with her son Ralph H. age 31 born in Maine, wife Margaret age 30 born in Canada and their two children Ralph Jr. age 2 and Julius Gordon Hussey, age 3, both born in California. She married John D. Allan as his 3rd wife in 1904. Her married name was Hussey and it was her second marriage. She was a resident of Bakersfield, California and born in Maine (census). They married Oct 14, 1904. John was a lumberman of Dennysville at the time. They were both widowed at the time of their marriage. She was living in the 1910 census and when John died in 1914. In the 1910 census her name was Nellie S., age 61, married twice, married for 5 years, 1 child, 1 living. Her husband John had been married 3 times, was age 71 and a farmer. The Faylene Hutton Cemetery collection does not show her buried with husband John D. Allan. In his lot were buried his wives Margaret and Emma as well as children Herbert, Fannie Louise who all died prior to John and son Walter Maxwell Allan who died in 1919. It is unclear whether wife Sarah "Nellie" died in Maine or was living with her son in California at her death.
