Musser, 65, lifelong resident of the Lone Tree community, passed away Thursday afternoon at University hospital in Iowa City, following an extended illness. He went to the hospital about there weeks before, and underwent two operations, but was unable to rally. He had been in poor health for several months. Flowers were in charge of Mrs. Mathews, Mrs. McMillan, Mrs. Forwald, Mrs. W. H. Stonebarger, and Mrs. John Krall. Burial was in the River Junction cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. Mose Fountain. Mrs. Clara Peppler, Della and Norma, all of Iowa City; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Forbes of Nichols, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Crawford, Mrs. Kenneth Wolfe, Mr. and Mrs. Oral Crain, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Crain, ot West Liberty; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Vanatta of Muscatine, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Fountain, Mrs. Everett Schanf, of Wellman; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Morgan of Grandview; Edgar Fountain and son Edgar, Jr. of Delphi, Ind.; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Walters of Hills. John D. Musser, son of John D. and Elizabeth Musser, was born near Lone Tree November 18, 1874, and passed away at the University hospital in Iowa City, November 14, 1940. He lacked four days of being 66 years old. On October 20, 1897 he married Mary J. Fountain at River Junction, where he farmed for many years. He had lived in Lone Tree for 20 years, and was well-known throughout this section. He is survived by his wife; seven sons, Harry, Fay, Robert and Dana, of Lone Tree, Willis and Donald of Walford, Ia., and John, in the U S. Navy, at present in the Philippine Islands; three daughters, Mrs. Ronald Sherburne of Iowa City, Mrs. E. E. Hale of West Liberty, and Mrs. Howard Stock of Lone Tree; one brother, J. R. Musser of Lone Tree. One daughter, Gladys, died when a child. Mr. Musser was a member of the Methodist church. He will be long remembered for his fair dealing with his fellowmen and for his tolerance and kindly spirit toward everyone.
