Description	:	Highland Recorder December 10, 1943 J.E. MCCOY DEAD John Edward McCoy passed away at 1 o’clock Saturday morning having reached the age of 72 years, 6 months and 11 days. Mr. McCoy was trustworthy, honorable and an honest toiler. He had been in bad health for several months, pneumonia having set in about two days before his death. Funeral services were held from the Doe Hill Church, of which he was a member Sunday at two o’clock by Rev. L.O. Rose assisted by Rev. L.M. Moffett. Highland Recorder February 7, 1908 Doe Hill News: Mr James Botkin had a thrilling experience last Saturday night, while crossing Jack Mountain on his return from Monterey. He encountered a large drift just this side of the top. His horse gave out and not being able to extricate him, he left the horse and came to Mr. Ed McCoy's at the foot of the mountain for help, Mr. McCoy returned with him, and after much difficulty succeeded in releasing him, the horse being nearly frozen. They reached the home of Mr. McCoy after ten o'clock, almost frozen and nearly exhausted.
