John was born at the Pawnee Memorial Hospital on January 22, 1957 to Johnie A. Meyer and the late Bonnie Jean (Gordon) Meyer of Pawnee City, Nebraska. John attended school in Pawnee City, Nebraska, and he was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Pawnee City, Nebraska, where he was baptized. John married Dineen Mathews in 1974 and had one son Chad John Meyer. Later John and Dineen parted ways and John married Susan D. Creek on September 2,1978. To this union, 3 children were born, John Richard Meyer of Beatrice, Jennifer Sue Meyer of Beatrice, and Dawn Marie Meyer of Beatrice. John spent his life in various professions such as working as the branch manager of the Burchard Elevator in Burchard Nebraska, assistant manager at Booth Feeds in Beatrice Nebraska, and later went into home construction business, until he was forced to retire due to his courageous battle with cancer. Johns hobbies were fishing, reading, gardening, watching CSI, Law and Order, and building birdhouses for the residents at the nursing homes. John enjoyed helping and socializing with his neighbors at his apartment at Fairbury Gardens, and enjoyed spending his time with his family. John is survived by his father Johnie A. Meyer of Pawnee City, Nebraska, his sister Jeanna Hansel and husband William Hansel of Fairbury. Children: Chad J. Meyer of Pawnee City, John R. Meyer, Jennifer S. Meyer, and Dawn M. Meyer all of Beatrice. Grandchildren Breona Meyer, Essence Hill-Meyer, Trenae Meyer, Kaneisha Meyer and Ayden Olin all of Beatrice. Nieces: Amber Hansel, Amanda Hansel, Ashley Hansel, and Great Niece Braylee Gill all of Fairbury. Funeral services 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at Zion Lutheran Church, Pawnee City, Nebraska. Officiating Pastor Bryan Gies. Visitation on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 from Noon-8 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m. at Wherry Mortuary, 919 G Street, Pawnee City, Nebraska. Interment will be at the Pawnee City Cemetery, Pawnee City, Nebraska. Memorials to family choice.
