Description	:	John F. Bruns was born on a farm east of Lennox, SD on Apr. 17, 1911, the son of Frank and Greta Maggie (Bunger) Bruns. He attended Sherman School District #51 in LaValley township and grew to manhood there. On Jan. 22, 1942, he was united in marriage to Elfrieda Schoffelman at her parental home north of Lennox. He lived on the home farm his entire life with the exception of the past year when he was a resident of the Lennox Good Samaritan Center. He continued farming until his retirement in 1975. He attended Sherman School District #51 in LaValley township and grew to manhood there. On Jan. 22, 1942, he was united in marriage to Elfrieda Schoffelman at her parental home north of Lennox. He lived on the home farm his entire life with the exception of the past year when he was a resident of the Lennox Good Samaritan Center. He continued farming until his retirement in 1975. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Grace Bruns and Jennie Bruns; two half-brothers: John DeVries and Henry DeVries; three half-sisters: Ann DeVries,Katie Poppenga and Hilka Schmidt. Having been in failing health, John died at the Lennox Good Samaritan Center at noon on Monday, Apr. 8, 1996. He attained the age of 84 years, 11 months and 21 days. Grateful for having shared his life are his widow, Elfrieda; two sons: Elroy Bruns and his wife, Violet, of rural Harrisburg, and Donovan Bruns and his wife, Sandra, of rural Lennox; one daughter, Elaine Moore and her husband, Daryl, of rural Harrisburg; eight grandchildren: Karen Bruns, Patty Bruns, James Bruns, Mike Bruns and his wife, Peggy, Rebecca Melchert and her husband, Milt, Rennee Bruns, Daniel Moore and his wife, Kandis, and Eric Moore; four great-grandchildren: Amanda Bruns, Tyler Bruns, Dakotah Moore and Quincy Birgholtz.
