Description	:	Death of Fred File Fred File, a well know and respected resident of Hazel Green township committed suicide last Monday. Read More	Death of Fred File Fred File, a well know and respected resident of Hazel Green township committed suicide last Monday. He rose as usual and after doing his early morning work, returned to the house and inquired if breakfast was ready, and being informed that it would be in a few minutes passed on into his bedroom. A moment later the report of a gun was heard by his wife who immediately went into his room where she found his lifeless body, he having shot himself in the right temple with his rifle. The only persons in the house at the time, besides the deceased, were his wife and his son aged five years. Mrs. File at one notified neighbors and Sheriff Hennessey, and Deputy Sheriff Maurice Hennessey went promptly to the scene of the tragedy, and decided that a coroners inquest was unnecessary, the statute requiring that an inquest be held upon the dead bodies of only such persons as are supposed to have died by unlawful means. Mr. File was forty-seven years of age and an honest and upright man. By industry and economy he had accumulated a competency for himself and family. Several years ago he was ill and since then his mind had not been in its normal condition. His family relations were pleasant and no cause other than a diseased mind can be assigned for his rash act. He is survived by his sorrowing wife, and two children, Miss Ella File and a son aged five years, who have the sympathy of all in their affliction. The daughter at the time of the tragedy was in Cedar Falls where she is a student at the State Normal school, and in response to a telegram returned home Monday afternoon. The funeral services will be held this (Wednesday) forenoon from the family residence in Hazel Green Township. Manchester Democrat, Manchester, Iowa April 25, 1906
