File, south of Manchester, on Monday, December 15, 1919, at the advanced age of 90 years, one month and 28 days. Funeral services were held at the Buck Creek church this afternoon at one o'clock. Read More	Mrs. Fredrick File, one of the pioneer women of Delaware county, died at the home of her son, Mr. A. E. File, south of Manchester, on Monday, December 15, 1919, at the advanced age of 90 years, one month and 28 days. Funeral services were held at the Buck Creek church this afternoon at one o'clock. Rev. George La Bounty, pastor of the Golden Congregational church, conducted the services. Mary Theresa Hickathier was born in Germany, October 27, 1829. She was united in marriage with Frederick File in Germany in 1849. In 1855 Mr. and Mrs. File came to the United States and soon thereafter came to Hopkinton, where they made their home for some time. Mr. File died May 8th, 1876, leaving the wife to care for five children, three of whom were small, and manage a large farm. About twenty years ago she left the old home farm and since that time has made her home with her children. Ten years of that time she spent with the daughter, Mrs. Loveland, at Coggon. She leaves to mourn her passing one daughter, Mrs. Loveland, and three sons, Walter, E. R., and A. E., all of whom reside in the south part of Delaware county. Besides her own children she leaves a large circle of relatives and friends who mourn because of her passing. Mrs. File was in every sense of the word a pioneer of the county. She came here when the county was thinly settled and when privation and hardship was the common lot of the few settlers. As stated above she suffered the loss of the husband; but notwithstanding this great misfortune she kept her children in the old house and managed the farm work until the older children could take up the tasks of the farm. Mrs. File was a fine type of Christian womanhood. She ministered unceasingly for those in her home, and was always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. For many years she was a devout and consistent member of the Methodist church of Buck Creek, and attended the services until the weight of years prevented her from doing so. Mrs. File did her work well, and contributed in generous measures of strength and talents to the upbuilding of the community in which she lived for so many years. And now, that her task is finished, she has been permitted to enter into eternal rest.
