Mr. Booker was born Sept. 5, 1922, in Surry County to the late John and Annie Miller Booker. Read More	GERMANTON, NC ~ Mr. John Fritz Booker Sr., 79, of Andes St., Germanton, husband of Mrs. Erma White Booker, died Sunday morning, March 24, 2002, at Forsyth Memorial Medical Center. Mr. Booker was born Sept. 5, 1922, in Surry County to the late John and Annie Miller Booker. He was a veteran of the US Army having served in World War II and a retired salesman for The Hardware Store. He was a former deputy sheriff with the Surry County Sheriff's Department and a member of the Bannertown Ruritan Club. Mr. Booker was involved with Boy Scout Troop #427 and was member of the King American Legion Post #290. He was a member of the Germanton Baptist Church. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Erma W. Booker of the home, two daughters and sons-in-law, Fritzi and Brooks Moore, Chesterfield, S.C., Pam and Allen Boles of King; a son, John Booker Jr., of Burlington; two grandchildren and a spouse, Brooke Tolbert of Winston-Salem, Neil and Amy Tolbert of Winston-Salem; three step-grandchildren, Heath Moore of Chesterfield, S.C., Kelli Sekits of King, Leigh Ann Lawrence of King; and step-great-grandchild, Erykah Lawrence of King; a sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Harold Gillespie of Mount Airy; a brother and two sisters-in-law, Warren and Edith Booker of Mount Airy and Maude Booker of Mount Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Booker was preceded in death by a brother, Charlie Booker. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 26, 2002, at Moody Funeral Home Chapel of Mount Airy conducted by the Rev. Dennis Collins and the Rev. Terry Ragsdale with burial to follow in Skyline Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Moody Funeral Home where his body will remain until the hour of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Germanton Baptist Church, PO Box 266, Germanton, NC 27019 or to the Bannertown Baptist Church, 1834 Westfield Rd., Mount Airy, NC 27030.
