He passed away on September 29, 2002, at the age of seventy-six. When Dad was two, they moved to Inman, Kansas. At the age of fourteen, he gave his heart to the Lord. Min. John A. Ensz baptized him on March 28, 1940, and he remained faithful to his vows until the end. In 1950, Dad moved to Winton, California. He passed away on September 29, 2002, at the age of seventy-six. When Dad was two, they moved to Inman, Kansas. At the age of fourteen, he gave his heart to the Lord. Min. John A. Ensz baptized him on March 28, 1940, and he remained faithful to his vows until the end. In 1950, Dad moved to Winton, California. He married me, Mary Ann Dyck, on June 3, 1951, and we shared life together for fifty-one years. To this union were born seven children, three boys and four girls. We made our home in Glenn, California from 1954 until now, except the two years we spent helping in the mission in Phoenix, Arizona. Dad was a quiet man with a very generous heart. His patient and understanding ways endeared him to his family and many friends. He loved to provide for the family and me, his wife. For many years, he was a carpenter, and later he enjoyed farming rice. His skills in woodworking were useful in church building projects. A highlight of his retirement was delivering new motor homes to many parts of the country. A week before his passing, Dad suffered a massive stroke. He peacefully passed from this life. He left us with confidence that he has gone to be with the Lord. Left with precious memories are his wife, Mary Ann; his children: Chester and wife, Wanda, Willows, California; Margaret and husband Randy Toews, Almena, Wisconsin; Kenneth and wife, Rhoda, Glenn, California; Anita and husband, Wallis Unruh, Glenn, California; Linda and husband, Ron Harlan, Orland, California; Keith and wife, Michelle, Glenn, California; and Janelle and husband Gary Becker, Halstead, Kansas; twenty-nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; three brothers: Albert and wife, Elda, Barron, Wisconsin; George and wife, Mary, Cumberland, Wisconsin; Jake and wife, Mildred, Madrid, Nebraska; two sisters: Dorothy and husband, Everett Wedel, El Campo, Texas; Delma and husband, Abe Nikkel, Inman, Kansas; sister-in-law, Margaret Friesen, Inman, Kansas; brothers-in-law: Elmer Dyck and wife, Edna, Stapleton, Georgia; Jona Dyck and wife, Rosella, Moundridge, Kansas; Irvin Dyck and wife, Verna, Atwater, California; and Harvey Dyck and wife, Theda, Atwater, California; sisters-in-law: Bernice Nickel, Moundridge, Kansas; Alice Loewen, Montezuma, Kansas; Alma and husband, Ervin Koop, Livingston, California; and Martha Mae and husband, Richard Penner, Bonners Ferry, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, two sisters, one son-in-law and two granddaughters. Funeral services were held on October 3, 2002, at the Glenn Congregation, Glenn, California. Min. Les Amoth, Min. Robert Koehn and Min. David Spence presided. Burial was in the Willows Cemetery, Willows, California.
