(Almquist) Lindburg was born February 28, 1926, at Essex, Iowa, and passed away October 14, 2006, in Shenandoah. The first two years of Glendon's life was spent on a farm near Essex, Iowa, then on a farm south of Shenandoah. For a period of years he lived at Clinton and Davenport, Iowa, before moving back to Shenandoah, where he spent the rest of his life. Glendon received his education in Shenandoah graduating from high school in 1944. He served his country in the United States Army for a short period of time, and then on November 22, 1951, in Shenandoah, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Scott and to this union Teena and Jay were born. Through the years Glendon was employed as a farm hand, farmed on his own, sold ambulances and worked for ABC Theater in Davenport, worked for Carper Furniture, Stewart Produce and Peter Pan Baking Company. In 1979 he and Evelyn purchased and operated Lindy's Farm Products in Shenandoah. Glendon was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed wood working and following the activities of his grandchildren. He was known for his humorous stories, which he often shared with his friends. Preceding Glendon in death were his parents; sister, Lavonne Schramek; and brothers, Archie and Marlyn Lindburg. Glendon is survived by his wife of almost 55 years, Evelyn Lindburg of Shenandoah; daughter and son-in-law, Teena and Tom Hohl of Aurora, Colorado; son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Shari Lindburg of Shenandoah; three grandsons, Luke and Joshua Hohl of Aurora, and Evan Lindburg of Shenandoah. Also surviving are brother and sister-in-law, Leslie and Doris Lindburg of Lincoln, Nebraska; sisters-in-law, June Lindburg of Emerson, Iowa and Elaine Lindburg of Essex, Iowa; brother-in-law, Bob Schramek of Omaha, Nebraska; plus other relatives and friends.
