Description	:	Marlyn Leland Lindburg, age 84, the son of Roy and Hanna (Almquist) Lindburg, was born November 5, 1920, at Essex, Iowa, and passed away May 5, 2005, in Shenandoah, Iowa. At the age of seven, Marlyn moved with his family from Essex to Shenandoah, where he attended school, graduating from Shenandoah High School in 1939. Read More	Marlyn Leland Lindburg, age 84, the son of Roy and Hanna (Almquist) Lindburg, was born November 5, 1920, at Essex, Iowa, and passed away May 5, 2005, in Shenandoah, Iowa. At the age of seven, Marlyn moved with his family from Essex to Shenandoah, where he attended school, graduating from Shenandoah High School in 1939. After high school he worked for Sondag Implement Company until entering the United States Army Air Force, serving his country during World War II until 1945. On September 1, 1946, at Saint John's Lutheran Church in Essex, Marlyn was united in marriage to Elaine Anderson and to this union Alicia, John, Mary, David, and Mark were born. On return from the service, Marlyn worked for awhile again at Sondag Implement Company and then started farming. He later went into the corn shelling and trucking business which he operated for many years. Marlyn was a member of Faith Covenant Church, Weatherall Hadden Holmes Post #333 in Essex and the Essex Commercial Club. He was active in the church serving as Deacon, Trustee and Sunday School Superintendent. He liked gardening and woodworking, especially making wooden toys for his grandchildren. He loved his grandchildren and taught them all to "pat grandpa". Because agriculture was an important part of his life he looked forward to Sunday rides to see what was happening with farming in the area. Preceding Marlyn in death were his parents; brother, Archie Lindburg; and sister, LaVonne Shramek. Survivors include his wife, Elaine, of Essex; children and their spouses, Alicia and Bob Johnson of Nixa, Missouri, John and Joy Lindburg of Essex, Mary and Craig Hamilton of Elkhorn, Nebraska, David and Mary Lindburg of Villisca, Iowa, and Mark and Jan Lindburg of Essex. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters-in-law, Leslie and Doris Lindburg of Lincoln, Nebraska and Glendon and Evelyn Lindburg of Shenandoah; sister-in-law, June Lindburg of Emerson, Iowa; brother-in-law, and Bob Shramek of Omaha, Nebraska. Other survivors include 18 grandchildren: Nathan and Rachel Averett, Tiffany, Aaron and Thomas Riley, Annmarie, Tessie, Abbie, Shawna and Kory Lindburg, Ryan and Sara Hamilton, Valerie, Kyle and Scott Lindburg, Renae Gray, Chad Gillespie and Ashley Lindburg; plus two great grandchildren, Devan and Jake Gray; other relatives and many friends. Memorials may be directed to the Faith Covenent Church or to the Lied Public Library in Essex.
