McDonald, Mrs. Ben Crinnigan, Mrs. Anna Barry, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Barry, at Bayard Saturday evening and was buried Monday. "Uncle Johnny", as he was affectionately called by a host of friends, was well known in Coon Rapids where he spent much of his time with his son and daughter and visited with friends, always jovial and good company. He had a good portion of keen Irish wit and enjoyed sharp tilts in pleasantry with young and aged alike, and though, past 80 years of age was quick to make retort and enjoy a hearty laugh at a good story or a witty sally. Everybody liked to say "How-de-do, Uncle Johnny," and chat a few moments with him, because of his geniality and wholesome spirit. He lived a good and honorable life, esteemed by his neighbors and loved by his relatives. Like most young men of his time, his opportunities were limited and what he acquired in the way of education and this world's goods came through hard toil but he made good in every way. John Glenn was born in County Galway, Ireland, in 1827; came to New York in 1849, and was married to Miss Catherine Conley in 1851, later moving to Janesville, Wis. Seven children were born to them — John, Anna (Mrs. Jos. C. Barry), Bridget, (Mrs. Edw. McDonald), Thomas, (deceased,) Ella (Mrs. Bernard Crinnigan), Edward, and George. In 1880 he moved to Greene county, Iowa, at which place he lived until the death of his wife in 1892. Since that time he has been living with his children. He died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Anna Barry, at Bayard, September 18, 1908, age 81 years, 6 months, and 17 days and was buried from the Catholic church at Bayard and laid by the side of his wife in Willow cemetery.
