COON RAPIDS ENTERPRISE - Friday, July 14th, 1939 - Mrs. Edward McDonald, widow of the late Edward McDonald, passed away at her home July 5, 1939 after an extended illness of one year. Since the death of Mr. McDonald on July 4, 1934, which was a severe shock to her, Mrs. McDonald has shown a rapid decline in health, and her passing is one of sincere regret and keenly felt by the entire community. Mrs. McDonald had been a resident of Coon Rapids forty-three years, having moved, to this vicinity in the Spring of 1896, and during this time has been very active in educational and civic projects, being a charter member of the Womans Club and various church organizations, being an untiring worker in all that furthered the betterment of the community in which she resided. Mrs. McDonald was born July 9, 1863 in Janesville, Wisconsin and the early part of her girlhood was spent in that state. Later she moved with her parents to their farm in Greene county three miles east of Coon Rapids where she engaged in teaching in the various schools. On Feb. 15, 1885 she was married to Edward McDonald and to this union were born four children but the fond parents enjoyed their love and tenderness but a few short years when they were all taken from them, three dying within four days of scarlet fever and black diphtheria. Mrs. McDonald leaves to mourn her loss, one sister Mrs. B. Crinnigan of Coon Rapids, a brother, George Glenn of Butte, Montana, besides various nieces and nephews and a host of friends. She was a life member of the Catholic church and a truly devout woman. Funeral services were held Friday morning 9:30 a.m. at the Annunciation church. Father 0'Malley Celebrant; Father Lynch, Deacon; Father Huelshorst, Sub Deacon. Interment was at Willow cemetery.
