COON RAPIDS ENTERPRISE - Friday, August 14th, 1925 - John Glenn died at the Carroll hospital Wednesday night, following an operation for trouble of the bowels. While not in good health for sometime, he kept on his feet, even up to Tuesday evening, when he became very ill and was hurried to the hospital and immediately operated upon, though the surgeons held out little or no hope of recovery. He was the father of Misses Kitty and Pearl Glenn and a brother of Mrs. Edw. McDonald and Mrs. Bon. Crinnigan. A brother resides somewhere in the west. He was an early settler of the locality and later of Coon Rapids. He was an ideal citizen and won many friends, being companionable and thoroughly honorable. He possessed a great deal of native Irish wit and had an original way of expressing himself. The story is told that he and John Lynn in the early day, made a sled in the house, planning delightful sleigh rides during the winter. When the sled was finished and they were ready to take it out doors, the door, as Lynn said, was too small for the sled, while Glenn insisted that the sled was too big for the door. The sled had to be taken apart to get it out. The deceased's passing will be deeply mourned by his relatives and many friends. Services will be held at the Catholic church this morning. COON RAPIDS ENTERPRISE - Friday, August 21th, 1925 - John Glenn was born in New York City, N.Y., and at the age of six months went to Janesville, Wisconsin, and lived there until 1880 when he moved to Iowa with his parents. In 1883 he was married to Ida Belle Timmons. To this union two girls were born — Kitty and Pearl, who survive him. His wife died a number of years ago. Mr. Glenn passed away August 12th, 1925. He died at the age of 70 years, 6 months, and 23 days. Besides two daughters, he leaves two sisters, Mrs. Edward McDonald and Mrs. B. Crinnigan of Coon Rapids, and one brother, George Glenn, of Butte, Montana.
