Description	:	John H Davis was born in Union County, Indiana, Sept 20, 1841. He came to Kansas while a young man and settled in Holton. When the war clouds were gathering and President Lincoln made the call for volunteers, he with 110 other Jackson county boys donned the blue and marched in the southwestMissouri, northwest Arkansas, Colorado, Wyoming and Dakota. He enrolled on August 21, 1865 having served his country three years and fifteen days. Of the 110 comrades who marched with him to the front only about ten can be counted in the couty today and 5 of the number... Read More	John H Davis was born in Union County, Indiana, Sept 20, 1841. He came to Kansas while a young man and settled in Holton. When the war clouds were gathering and President Lincoln made the call for volunteers, he with 110 other Jackson county boys donned the blue and marched in the southwestMissouri, northwest Arkansas, Colorado, Wyoming and Dakota. He enrolled on August 21, 1865 having served his country three years and fifteen days. Mr Davis was married to Mary E Brassbridge at Holton, January 5, 1868. To this union were born five children, four sons and one daughter, two sons and one daughter have preceded him to the other world. Two sons, Arthur and Paul with their Mother mourn their loss. He united with the Christian church at Holton during a meeting held by the late M E Harlan in 1894. He died to this world on the morning of March 14, 1910. His eyesight had been poor for many years.
