Description	:	Funeral services for John Hoferer, 102, were held on Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at 10:30 a.m. at Christ Memorial United Methodist Church in Bloomfield. Pastor Tim Pratt officiated with interment at Greenwood Cemetery at Creighton. Honorary pallbearers were grandchildren and great grandchildren. John H. Hoferer was born to John and Mary (Hoffart) Hoferer January 22, 1904 on a farm near Verdigre. He attended rural school at Verdigre and was baptized and confirmed in the Zion Lutheran Church in Creighton. Hoferer was born to John and Mary (Hoffart) Hoferer January 22, 1904 on a farm near Verdigre. He attended rural school at Verdigre and was baptized and confirmed in the Zion Lutheran Church in Creighton. He married Irene Helen Baller on April 1, 1931 at Zion Lutheran Church in Creighton and was a member of the Lindy Lutheran Church. In 1960 they moved to Niobrara, where Mr. Hoferer was very active in the moving of the town of Niobrara. He and Jerome Robinette formed the J and J Construction Company to help demolish and rebuild the town. He belonged to the Niobrara Lutheran Church and the Senior Citizen's Club. He liked to fish, play cards and dance to country western music and polkas. Mr. Hoferer moved to Bloomfield Washington Apartments in 1993 and entered the Bloomfield Good Samaritan Center in 1998. He died January 28, 2006 at the Center. He was preceded in death by his wife and six brothers and sister. Survivors include daughters; Barbara Harrom of Bloomfield, Jolene and husband, Roger Burns, of Essex, Iowa; sons, Ronald and wife, Phyllis, of Niobrara and John E. and wife, Mary of Council Bluffs, Iowa; eleven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
