Edward Philgreen officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery. Mr. Collinson died Friday afternoon at Mercy hospital in Des Moines. He had been in failing health for the past year. Edward Philgreen officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery. Mr. Collinson died Friday afternoon at Mercy hospital in Des Moines. He had been in failing health for the past year. John Harland Collinson, son of Upton and Alta Mae Jones Collinson, was born June 25, 1918, at Carthage S.D. He received his education in that community. At the age of 15, he moved with his parents to Tama, where he was graduated from high school. He attended college at Grinnell and also A.I.B. in Des Moines. From 1940 to 1945 he served with the U.S. Army with an infantry unit, serving in Europe and also in North Africa. He had been honored with the Purple Heart medal On Dec. 30, 1944, he was united in marriagre to Lillian Chalupsky at Tama, and the couple resided in Tama, later moving to Marion and Atlantic, Iowa. The family resided in Webster City since 1970. Mr. Collinson was a senior bank examiner for the state of Iowa. He is survived by his wife, three sons and four daughters, John Collinson, Jr., Ontario, Canada, Joan Campbell, Webster City, Mrs. Dennis (Jane) Schwartz and Jean Billingsley, both of Nevada, James Collinson of Montour, Janet Collinson, Wife of Richard Carroll of Muscatine, and Joel Collinson of Grimes; 13 grandchildren; one sister and one brother, Marvin G. Collinson of Lexington, Ky., and Mrs. John (Charlotte) Almond of Lombard, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister. He was a member of the Asbury United Methodist church, the Hiram of Tyre Lodge, 203, AF and Am of Tama. He was the past president of the Nishma Valley Za-Ga-Zig Shrine.
