Frazer, Mr. and Mrs. McCollough, of Webster City; Mrs. Ida Noyes, of Mankato, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Jenkins, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Berggren, Dr. and Mrs. Will Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Jacobson, all of Stanhope, Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Ristrim, Mr. and Mrs. Nels Sandell. J.H. Oslund, for many years one of the highly respected residents of Stratford and community, died in his home in Adel, June 12. He had been in poor health for some years and recently had suffered a stroke of paralysis. John Heif Oslund, son of Anna and Jonas Oslund, was born in Sundsvall, Sweden, July 26, 1875, and at his death was 66 years, 10 months, 17 days old. He came to this country with his parents early in life and they located on a farm east of Stratford the present Nels Westrum estate farm. After completing his schooling he held positions of trust here and elsewhere. He was united in marriage to Anna S. Rosengren, June 26, 1901 and of this union three children were born. They are: Kendall D., of Omaha, Nebr.; Mrs. Myrna Johnson, of Des Moines; Jerome R., of Decorah. These children with his wife survive his death. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Richard Dean and John Lawrence Oslund, three sisters, Mrs. Hildegard Young, of Pasadena, Calif.; Mrs. Will Frazer, of Webster City, Mrs. Ida Noyes, of Mankato, Minn., and two brothers, Ralph, of Los Angeles, Calif., and Fred, of Akron, O. While living here he was employed in the elevator owned by the late Chris Williams, in the hardware store operated by the late J.H. Johnson, in the former Swedlund Bros. hardware store and in a yard operated here at the time by the Citizens Lumber Co. At Adel he was manager for some time of the Adel Lumber Co. and some years later operated a filling station which he was compelled to give up three years ago because of poor health. He was a member of the Masonic and I.O.O.F. lodges and of the Methodist church.
