Pallbearers were John Mulligan, Wm. Beecham, Leo Meysenburg, John Powers, Albert Stava and Jack Reisdorff. Burial was in St. Mary’s cemetery. The son of Daniel and Mary Curry Keefe, he was born at Champaign, Ill., Aug. 10, 1869, and came to Butler county with his parents in 1827, living on a farm near Brainard. On Aug. 23, 1898, he was married to Nellie Flynn at Brainard. They were the parents of five children, all of whom survive him. The family have made their home in David City since 1908. Mr. Keefe was a lifetime member of the Catholic church and for many years was in the teaching profession, serving as superintendent of schools for some time. Surviving him are his wife; son, John J. Keefe of Lincoln; daughters, Mrs. Geo. Phillips (Agnes) of Pine Bluffs, Wyo., Mrs. F. S. Meysenburg (Teresa) of Stanton, Mrs. A. E. Stauffer (Lillian) of Burns, Wyo., and Mrs. James Ward (Irene) of Ulysses; and 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Attending the services from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Phillips, Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Stauffer and the F. W. Poelma family, Pine Bluffs, Wyo.; Mr. and Mrs. F. S. Meysenburg, Stanton; Mrs. Robert Karls, Colby, Kas.; Mr. and Mrs. John Keefe and family, Lincoln; Mr. and Mrs. Jas.
