Mr. Bennett, son of David and Mary (Timpson) Bennett was born at Hinckley Lestershire, England, on July 4, 1885. Before coming to the United States Jack worked in the coal mines in England. In 1909 he came to the United States, settling in the Anthon community where he and his brother Charlie farmed. Jack also worked in the brick yard at Sargent Bluff. He was united in marriage to Cassie P. Green August 28, 1931, at Anthon. In 1943 they moved to a farm near Danbury, later moving to a farm near Anthon. He retired from farming in 1957 but continued to live on the farm. Due to his beloved wife's death February 20, 1962, he moved to Anthon. In 1975 he moved to Vermillion, South Dakota, to be near his daughter Bonnie. Jack was a member of the United Methodist Church and was a 50-year member of the Masonic lodge at Anthon. Survivors include one son, David of Cherokee; two daughters, Mrs. Edmund (Dorothy) Burbridge of Sioux City; Mrs. Bonnie Steenholdt of Vermillion, South Dakota; ten grandchildren, two great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Rose Patterson of Anthon, and one brother, William of Sioux City. He was preceded by his parents, his wife, two brothers and one sister.
