He came to the U.S. at the age of twenty-one years and has lived in Anthon since then. He married Florence Davis June 28, 1922, in Sioux City. She died in 1942. Read More	The Anthon Herald, 19 January 1977, page 1: Charles Arthur Bennett, son of David and Mary (Timpson) Bennett, was born May 21, 1888, in Hinckley, Leiscestershire, England. He came to the U.S. at the age of twenty-one years and has lived in Anthon since then. He married Florence Davis June 28, 1922, in Sioux City. She died in 1942. On June 28, 1949, he married Gertrude Davis in Nashua, Iowa. She died in 1974. He was a member of the Anthon United Methodist Church. Mr. Bennett died at a Sioux City nursing home at the age of 88 years, 7 months and 23 days. Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Margie Taylor of Temple Hills, Maryland, Mrs. Francis (Myrna) Jones of Laurens, Mrs. Archie (Neola) Lyon of Anthon, Mrs. Melvin (Charlene) McCoy of Petaluma, California, one stepdaughter, Mrs. George (Bernice) Peterson of Anthon, eight grandchildren, six great grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Rose Patterson of Anthon, and three brothers, William Bennett of Sioux City, Jack Bennett of Vermillion, South Dakota, and Lewis Bennett of Oceanside, Oregon. He was preceded by his parents, his wives and one sister. Services were held Monday, January 17, 1977, at 10:30 a.m. in the United Methodist Church in Anthon with Rev. Edward Schaller officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
