Description	:	July 9, 1960 - Carroll Daily Times - John Jacob Rogers, 42, editor and publisher of the Coon Rapids Enterprise, died of a self-inflicted gun shot wound, a coroner's inquest ruled here Friday evening. Rogers was wounded in the dark room at the newspaper office and died in the Huffman ambulance while on route to St Anthony hospital in Carroll. Time of the mishap was place at 2:15 p.m. Friday. The shooting was investigated by Sheriff Al Thorup and Leonard Hinz, deputy. Rogers had been editor of the Enterprize since the death of his father, J Thomas Rogers last March. He had been active in community affairs. Rogers was a graduate of Coon Rapids high school in 1935 and graduated from State University of Iowa. During WW II he was a lieutenant in the Air Force. He was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist, Boston, Mass.; Charity Lodge No. 197 A.F. and A.M.; Faith Chapter. O.E.S.; and Delta Tau Delta fraternity. A resident of Coon Rapids for the past 30 years, he was born in Carroll on Apr. 4, 1918. He is survived by his wife Esther Ruth Stryzewski Rogers, a daughter Ann Elizabeth 7, his mother Mrs J Thomas Rogers, a sister Mrs Russell E (Phyllis) Dixon, all of Coon Rapids; and a sister Mrs Paul W (Pricilla) Reinowski, Bossier city, LA. He was married at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Akron, Iowa on June 25, 1950. The body is at the Huffman Funeral chapel where it will remain until the time of the services on Sunday.
