Paulsen, 79 years, of Franklin, NE was born the son of Walter Paulsen and Mary Yohe Paulsen at Rock Island, IL on April 26, 1907. His life ended on April 26, 1986 at the Franklin Nursing Center in Franklin, NE. John was married to Helen A. Smithson in Omaha, NE September 21, 1929. They moved to Franklin in 1931, where they lived most of the years until his death. John was a 25-year member of the Franklin Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of Franklin Lodge No. 264 A.F. and A.M. John worked 15 years for Hevner Serum Company; and for 29 years was employed by the Franklin County Memorial Hospatal, until his retirement in 1984 after a serious illness. Preceding John in death were his parents, two sons and one grandchild. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by his family, relatives and many friends. Survivors include his wife: Helen of Franklin; 3 sons: John Jr., of Phoenix, AZ; Tom of Franklin; Richard of Lincoln; 3 daughters: Mrs. Gene (Peggy) Gulledge of Albany, OR; Mrs. Paul L. (Joyce) Eisenhauer of Omaha; and Mrs. Kenneth (Glenda) Hunt of San Jose, CA; 12 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters: Althea Schurman of Franklin; Betty Evans of Omaha; step brother: Erving Werrebroeck of Omaha; and a sister-in-law, Bell Bennett of Franklin and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, April 30, 1986 at 2:00 p.m. at Hutchins Funeral Home, Franklin, with Rev. Fred Roberts, officiating. Alma Huisman was the organist. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Zade sang "Beyond the Sunset" and "In the Garden." Honorary pallbears were Tommy Blank, Chet Beck, Bill Smith, Ross Bonham, Tom McNiff and K. C. Long. Casket bearers were nephews: Gary Bennett, Rick Bennett, James "Pete" Bennett, Mike Schurman; and Lawrence Stover, Jr. and Jeff Wilsman. Graveside Masonic Services were conducted by Franklin Lodge No. 264, AF & AM. Interment was in the Greenwood Cemetery, Franklin. Hutchins Funeral Home, Franklin, was in charge of funeral arrangements.
