Description	:	John L. Krings, 58, of Creston, died Sunday, Oct. 17, 2010, at his home in Creston. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church LCMS, 13 miles north of Columbus. The Rev. Brad Birtell will officiate. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery in Creston. Visitation will be 5-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, with a 7 p.m. scripture service, at Duesman Funeral Chapel, continuing 9:30-10:30 a.m. Thursday, with a 10:15 a.m. family prayer service, at the church. Mr. Krings was born Aug. 26, 1952, in Cedar Rapids, to Leonard and Esther (Hartman) Krings. He received his education at Creston Public School and Leigh Public School. He married Connie Folken May 13, 1972, in Leigh. He lived in the Creston community and was a skilled welder. He was known for his sculptured iron art work and enjoyed life and association with friends and was an avid Harley-Davidson fan and an air guitarist. He was an honorary mayor of Creston. Survivors include sons, Jeremy Krings, of Creston, Kelly (Melanie), of Omaha; parents, Leonard and Esther Krings, of Creston; brothers, Harold (Mary Kay) Krings, of Columbus, William (Judy) Krings, of Dwight, Kenneth (Craig Giraudo) Krings, of San Jose, Calif.; sisters, Mary (Rodney) Schroeder, of Rosemont, Minn.; Diane (Tim) Mausbach, of Creston; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents; and one sister, Rebecca Krings. Memorials preferred to family choice.
