The funeral was held Wednesday morning at Holy Trinity church southwest of Clutier, with the Rev. Father Vopatek officiating in the absence of the Rev. Father F. X. Gorecki, who is in Milwaukee, Wis. Besides his wife, Mr. Ledvina is survived by eight children--Charles Ledvina, near Belle Plaine; Mary, wife of John Kaufman, Chelsea; Maggie, wife of Will Hala, near Toledo; Agnes, who is Mrs. Will Benda, west of Clutier; Julia, wife of Joe Sebesta, near Toledo; John Jr., south of Clutier; and Frances and Fred, at home. One son, Will, died several years ago. [Traer Star-Clipper; 5 July 1935] John Ledvina Sr. A Resident of Tama County Many Years Pall Bearers at the funeral of John Ledvina Sr., held last week at Holy Trinity church with the Rev. Father Thomas Vopatek, of Clutier, in charge, were Leo Kaufman, Milo Kaufman, George Hala,Edward Ledvina,Emil Cibula, and Charles Houska. Honorary pallbearers were the following members of K.D. lodge: James Benda, J. W. Roubinek, John E. Husak, Joe M. Dvorak, Charles Parizek Sr., and A. C. Chizek. Mr. Ledvina,who died of heart disease after being confined to his bed two days, was born Jan. 13, 1868, in Czecho-Slovakia, coming with his parents to America when he was 4 years old. The family first lived at Quarry, over near LeGrand, and then moved to a farm near Chelsea. In 1887 he married Frances Chudelic, who survives, together with eight children--Fred and Frances, at home; John Ledvina, Jr., Elberon; Charles Ledvina, Belle Plaine; Mrs. Mary Kaufman, Chelsea; Mrs. Julia Sebesta, Toledo; Mrs. Maggie Hala, Toledo; and Mrs. Agnes Benda, Clutier. There are twenty-six grandchildren and one great grandchild. A son, William, who died in 1922,was the only one of nine children to precede their father in death. Two sisters and one brother also survive--Mrs. Frank Cibula, Vining; Mrs. Frank Houska, Elberon; and Joseph Ledvina, Toledo. Two sisters, Mrs. Joseph Kosnar and Mrs. John Kremenak,are dead. The decedent was a social member of the Holy Trinity church and was affiliated with the K. D. lodge. He was a kind and loving father and a good neighbor and friend who will be missed by his family and is the community.
