It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather and great-grandfather, John Grimm, Bridgewater, formerly of Springfield, in the QEII Health Sciences Centre on Friday, May 23, 2008. Born in Springfield, Annapolis Co., he was a son of the late Gifford and Margaret (Smith) Grimm. He was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis (Trethewey) Grimm. John is survived by daughter, Carol Ann (Donald) Jennings, Hubley; brother, Maxwell (Elva) Grimm, Bridgewater; granddaughter, Jeannine (Todd) Comeau, Upper Tantallon, and great-grandchildren, Brandon and Emily. Born in Springfield, Annapolis Co., he was a son of the late Gifford and Margaret (Smith) Grimm. He was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis (Trethewey) Grimm. John is survived by daughter, Carol Ann (Donald) Jennings, Hubley; brother, Maxwell (Elva) Grimm, Bridgewater; granddaughter, Jeannine (Todd) Comeau, Upper Tantallon, and great-grandchildren, Brandon and Emily. John was a self-employed owner of Springfield Trading Company/Clover Farm Store, drove the rural mail prior to his retirement. He was a past member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and was a veteran of the Second World War, having served in the Army. He was a lifetime member of Epworth United Church, New Germany. In earlier years John and his wife Phyllis played competition darts through the New Germany Legion for many years. He also enjoyed cards, crib, hunting and fishing and in recent years , bowled as a member of the New Germany Senior Bowling League. In respect of John's wishes, cremation has taken place in Cole Harbour Funeral Home. No visitation. A memorial service will be held in Epworth United Church, New Germany on June 12 at 2 p.m., Rev. Joan Conrad officiating. Interment in Epworth United Church Cemetery.
