Marsh, son of William and Nancy Marsh, was born in Clermont Co., Ohio, Feb. 13, 1849, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Maddie Wooten in West Manchester, Preble Co., Ohio, Oct. 2, 1922, age 73 years, 8 months, 1 day. He was one of 5 children, all of whom preceded him in death except Thomas Marsh of Dayton, Ohio. He was one of 5 children, all of whom preceded him in death except Thomas Marsh of Dayton, Ohio. He came to Darke Co. with his parents at the age of 7 years and located in the northern part of the county where he remained until his marriage to Miss Esther Markwith in 1868. To this union were born 7 children, 3 of whom preceded him in death. Those who survived him are Elmer E. Marsh, Utica, Illinois, William E. Marsh of Los Angeles, Calif., Ira Marsh of Union City, Ind. and Mrs. Mattie Wooten. After his marriage he located on a farm near Jaysville, and later he became a resident of Greenville where he remained unitl his health gave way, then he went to the home of his daughter at West Manchester, wehre he remained until he died. He was well known over Darke Co., having been for years Deliquent Tax Collector which took him into every part of the county. He was respected and honored for his honest and upright life and his friends were numerous. He leavfes to mourn his departure, one daughter, 3 sons, one brother, 5 grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. The funeral services were held from the home of his daughter, West Manchester, Friday, Oct. 6 at 2 p.m. Sermon by Rev. C. Hoeffer of Palestine, assisted by Odd Fellows Lodge. The body was buried at Abbottsville.
