He had been a resident of Monticello Senior Home from late May until July 12. He was born April 2, 1891 in Germany, son of Henry and Emma Friedrichsen Petersen. He came to the United States in 1906, arriving on his 15th birthday. He worked on farms in the Wyoming area. He was married Jan 31, 1917 to Bertha Louise Reese. They farmed in Jones County until moving to Wyoming in 1947. Mr. Petersen was a member of Wyoming Lutheran church and Masonic lodge. He was a former member of Lions club. He has served as mayor of Wyoming for a number of years. Surviving are four children, Mrs. Velma Cruise of Olin, John H. of Wyoming, Mrs. Emma Bepler of Nekoosa, Wis. and Robert D of Olin; two sisters, Mrs. William Reese of Olin and Mrs. Peter Sievers of Wyoming; one brother, Hans of Marion; 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Ina Petten, and two brothers.
