Mr. Petersen died suddenly July 21. He was born Sept. 29, 1894, in Schleswig Holstein Germany, the son of Henry J and Emma Freidericksen Petersen. He was married to Katharine Brodrsen at Olin, Jan 2, 1918. They farmed in the Wyoming area until moving to Oxford Jct. in 1948. He was a former mayor of Oxford Jct. and a former member of the Jones county Conservation board for approximately eight years. He was one of the founders and board members of the Wyoming horse show, a member of the Woodman Lodge and a long time director and agent for the Wheatland Mutual Insurance Company. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one granddaughter. Survivors include: his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Melvin (Agnes) Klein of Stanwood; two sons, Fred and Elmer of wyoming; 11 granchildren; two sister, Mrs. Peter Sievers of Wyoming and Mrs. William Reese of Olin, and two brothers, John of Wyoming and Hans of Marion. * * * * * * * * * SOURCE: THE CEDAR RAPIDS GAZETTE, CEDAR RAPIDS, IOWA, 23 JUL 1970, PAGE 4 FREDERICK PETERSON DIES; RITES FRIDAY OXFORD JUNCTION - Frederick T. Peterson, 75 former Oxford Junction mayor, died Tuesday night while in Monticello. Born Sept 19, 1894, he married Katharine Broderson at Olin on Jan. 2, 1918. He farmed until moving to Oxford Junction in 1948, later serving as mayor for a four -year term. He served eight years on the Jones County conservation board, retiring recently, was one of the founders of the Wyoming horse show and was a director and agent for the Wheatland Mutual Insurance Co. for over 40 years. Surviving are his wife; one daughter Mrs. Melvin Klein of Stanwood; two sons, Fred and Elmer of Wyoming; 11 grandchildren; two sisters Mrs. Peter Sievers of Wyoming and Mrs. William Reese of Olin; and two brothers, John of Wyoming and Hans of Marion. Services: Friday at 10:30 am St. Mark's Lutheran church. Hayden's.
