John Milton Dodd, civil War veteran, died Tuesday morning in his home at Perrysville. Burial was made today, and funeral services were conducted by his pastor, Rev. J. L. Baker, Leesville, of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Mr. Dodd was born May 23, 1839, and was married November 1, 1866, To Mariam Stewart, daughter of the late County Commissioner Edward Stewart. He is survived by Mrs. Dodd and the following children; Charles, Will and Jasper Dodd, of Perrysville, and Ross Dodd, of Alliance. Joe Schedenker is a half-brother. Mr. Dodd was a member of the Odd Fellows lodge. His obituary in the Free Press Standard, Carrollton, Ohio, Thursday, February, 26, 1920. John Milton Dodd, son of Washington and Elizabeth Dodd, was born in Perry County, May 21, 1839, and passed away February 10, 1920, in his home at Perrysville, at the age of 80 years. He was of a family of four children, three of whom preceded him in death. To the second marriage of his mother to Samuel Snedeker there were born four children, three of whom still live -- Joseph Snedeker, of Deersville and David and Edward Snedeker, of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Mr. Dodd served during the civil war, first as a private in Company A, Eleventh Regiment of Veteran Reserve Corps, and afterwards was transferred to Company G, Thirty-first regiment Ohio Infantry. He was honorably discharged September 7, 1864. On November 1, 1866, he was united in marriage to Miriam Stewart, to which union were born four children, all of whom are living -- Charles, Will and Jasper, of Perrysville, and Ross, of Alliance; also two grandchildren. He joined the Methodist Church at Perrysville 53 years ago and remained a faithful, consistent member until death. He was a member of Hopewell Lodge No. 276, Jewett, to which he was greatly attached. Mr. Dodd was a kind, good-hearted, Christian husband, father, neighbor, citizen and friend. As he saw the end of his life approaching he often wished he might go to sleep and not waken in this world again, and his desire was granted. His body has has been laid to rest, but his spirit has gone to the God who gave it, and who judgeth the heart of men and doeth all things well. During his last sickness he was kindly cared for by his wife and children. Funeral services were held at the home, conducted by his pastor, Rev. J. L. Baker, February 12, 1920.
