Falke officiating and celebrating the solemn requiem High Mass. Interment was in St. Ludger Cemetery. Six grandsons served as pallbearers. They were Clayton, Howard and Jake Muller, Edward and John Meyer and Larry Neyens. Mr. Neyens was found dead in bed last Thursday morning, March 25, when he failed to get up at the usual hour. John Neyens was born March 21, 1879 near Cascade, Ia. When 15 years old, he came to Knox county. On Nov. 12, 1902, he married Miss Inez Lyon and they farmed a mile and a half east of Winnetoon until 1945, when they retired and moved into Creighton, where they made their home until their deaths. Mrs. Neyens passed away Aug. 25, 1953, just seven months prior to her husband's death. Four daughters and three sons were born to them. The daughters are Mrs. Henry Meyer of Winnetoon, Mrs. Lyle Green of Mitchell and Mrs. Jack McManigal of Brunswick. Another daughter, Mrs. Sarah Muller, passed away in February, 1941. Sarah's three youngest children, Mary Jo, Margie and Frank, made their home with the Neyens, since their mother's death. The three sons are Elmer, Joseph and Charles, all of Creighton. In addition to the three daughters and three sons, Mr. Neyens is survived by 22 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three brothers, Jake of Hinton, Ia., Ben of Colome, S.D. and Pete of Winner, S.D. and three sisters, Mrs. Christina Ruhland and Mrs. Mary Klein of LeMars, Ia. and Mrs. Leo Frisch of Creighton. Mr. Neyens had been a successful farmer. He had been in failing health for several months, but had been up and around the day prior to his death and had not complained of feeling ill. ...The Creighton News 1 April 1954
