Description	:	John O. Gusaas, 69, of Valley City, passed away in a Valley City hospital on Sunday evening. He had lived north of Litchville for many years before moving first to Hastings and later to Valley City. Johnny Oscar Gusaas was born on May 3, 1900, in Skandia Township, Barnes County, to Andred and Ragnild Gusaas. Gusaas, 69, of Valley City, passed away in a Valley City hospital on Sunday evening. He had lived north of Litchville for many years before moving first to Hastings and later to Valley City. Johnny Oscar Gusaas was born on May 3, 1900, in Skandia Township, Barnes County, to Andred and Ragnild Gusaas. He was baptized in the Lutheran faith and received his education in a rural school in Skandia Township. On November 14, 1923, he married Elma Salthammer at her family home. They farmed in Skandia Township until 1965, when they retired and moved to Hastings. In 1968 they moved to Valley City. Mr. Gusaas was a member of the Spring Creek Lutheran Church in Hastings until he transferred his membership to the First Lutheran Church of Valley City. Here he served on the church board. He had been township assessor, and he served on the township and school boards. He is survived by his wife, four sons, Milford of Valley City, Donald of Jamestown, Howard of Great Falls, MT, and Kenneth of Litchville; three daughters, Enid (Mrs. Harstad) of Rogers, Jean (Mrs. G. Olson) of LItchville; and Carol (Mrs. Douglas) Derheim of Valley City; also one brother George of Mortlach, Sask., Canada; two sisters, Mable (Mrs. A.) Salthammer of LItchville and Ragna (Mrs. O) Wollan) of kathryn, and 18 grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, three sisters, and one grandchild. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 25, at 2:00 p.m. in the First Lutheran Church of Valley City, with Rev. Roderich officiating.
