Carter, 91, a native of California who located in the Bridgeport area shortly after the turn of the century and whose funeral was held there Tuesday of Last week, had served the town as mayor for seventeen years, having taken over that post in 1929 after serving three years previously as a member of the town council. He owned and operated Town Orchards in the district during a thirty years period. He is survived by his widow, Mindie a daughter, whose address is currently unknown and a son, Russell E. Carter of Grand Forks, North Dakota. He was born on July 1, 1870, and for a period during his early life had lived in North Dakota. Pallbearers were six men who had served with him on the Bridgeport town council, W. R. Conklin, W. F. Cornehl, Stanley Slade, Clyde Ham, A. O. And C. B. Lamoreux, Interment was in the Bridgeport Cemetery.
