The funeral services were conducted at the home this Thursday morning by Rev Charles B Hankins. The body was interred in the Elmwood cemetery. John Reed Jarvis, the son of Zadok and Charlotte Jarvis was born two miles west of Morning Sun, Iowa September 30, 1849. He had resided in this county from the earliest days of his childhood. For more than forty years he had been a resident of the town of Morning Sun. He had been engaged in the buying and selling of live stock practically all of his life. Durning so long a period he naturally had business dealings with most of the old settlers of the county. He was always fair and liberal with the public in his business transactions. He was united in marriage to Mrs. Rebecca E Hannan in Peoria, Ill March 21, 1907. He leaves to mourn his loss his widow, a son by a former marriage, C.K. Jarvis of Tonopah, Nev, two brothers L.M. Jarvis of Washington, Iowa, Ed Jarvis of Morning Sun, one sister, Mrs. Maggie Wood of Crab Orchard, Neb, two step daughters, Mrs. Mary Swafford of Morning Sun, and Mrs. Grace Lyle and her little son Harold of Kewanee, Ill., besides a number of more distant relatives and a host of friends. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Jarvis of Washington were called here by the death of Mr. Jarvis.
