Bishop was born at New Enterprise, Pa., July 25, 1874 and died at Larned January 29 at the age of fifty-six years, six months and four days. He grew to manhood in his native state. He was married June 12, 1900 to Virginia Clapper, the only daughter of John and Elizabeth Clapper of Great Bend. Bishop of Wichita; Mrs. Harry Hunsley of Great Bend; and Faye Bishop of Larned; one brother, David Bishop of Martinsburg, Pa.; and three sisters, Mrs. Norton Taylor of Gallion, Ohio; Mrs. Anna Hartman of Altoona, Pa.; and Mrs. Hatie Ebersole of Martinsburg, Pa. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the Vernon Funeral Home, with the Rev. M. F. Lyerla in charge of the services. A quartet composed of Dr. Thomas Powell, Dr. Ralph Crabbs, A. J. Koelling and Fred Paramore sand "There is No Night There," and "In the Garden." Mr. Paramore sang "Lay My Head Beneath a Rose." Pallbearers were Ward Andrews, Lee Frazier, A. W. Cole, Donald Hare, Todd Milloway and Lee Meador, all of Larned. Honorary pallbearers were William Hammond, Walter Helzer, Bob Payne and Roy Ray of Great Bend; E. E. Campbell, George Nolan, Fred Lowrey, James Lowrey, J. W. Dorst, O. Baxter and Ed. Arnsberger of Larned. Interment was in the Pratt cemetery south of town.
