Kucera, 82, who died suddenly at his home in Irving Monday evening, June 18, were conducted at 2:00 o'clock Thursday afternoon from the Hrabak Funeral home in Belle Plaine. Theodore Hlubucek of Cedar Rapids was the speaker. Interment was in the National cemetery at Vining. Mr. Kucera was born December 24, 1863 on a farm west of Elberon, a son of Jacob and Anna Kucera. His parents were pioneer settlers who came from Czechoslovakia in the 1850's. His early life was spent in working at various occupations. He was employed in the Charles Skrable grain elevator at the time of his marriage on September 27, 1884, to Francis Ledvina of Elberon. The couple was married by Mr. Kucera's brother, Albert, who was a Justice of the Peace at that time. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary last September. Mr. and Mrs. Kucera resided on a farm west of Elberon for several years and then moved back to Elberon where the former engaged in the lumber business. In 1900 they moved to Irving where he conducted a similar business for a few years, but he later sold this and returned to farming in the Irving vicinity. In. 1918 they moved to a farm near Toledo, and a few years later moved into that city but in 1929 they returned to Irving where the rest of Mr. Kucera's life was spent. Surviving besides his wife, Francis ,are his daughters, Mrs. William Allen of Iowa Falls and a son, Fred Kucera of Elberon; one sister, Anna Susmilch who lives In Colorado, five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded In death by two sons, John and Milo, his parents, six brothers and a sister, an d three grandchildren. Mr. Kucera was a member of the C.S.A. lodge of Vining and a Charter member of the Z.C.B.J. lodge In Irving. Contributor: George (48419540) •
