Funeral services will be held Sunday, March 4, at the Presbyterian Church in Edgar. ================================================= The Edgar Sun (Edgar, NE) Fri., Mar 9, 1945 - Page 1 John Sugden John Sugden son of William and Susie Brancroft Sugden, was born April 25, 1855, in Yorkshire, England, and passed away February 28, 1945, at the age of 89 years, ten months and three days. At the age of three years he came with his parents to Randolph, Wisconsin, where he grew to manhood. June 12, 1878, he was united in marriage to Emily M. Dann at Fox Lake, Wisconsin. To this union were born 13 children, Ethel, Edgar, Nebraska; Edith Springer, Omaha, Nebraska; Charles, Duchess, Alberta, Canada; Ernest passed away April 24, 1920; Emily died in infancy; Mabel Wheeland, Edgar, Nebraska; Raymond, Brush, Colorado; Millie Organ, Edgar, Nebraska; Clara Gunn, Edgar, Nebraska; Homer passed away July 24, 1917; Susie Dillie. Omaha, Nebraska; Carrie Beck, Hebron, Nebraska; Leonard, Edgar, Nebraska. He also has 21 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, one half-brother, R. P. Sugden, Rio, Wisconsin; one half-sister, Bessie Hopkins, Randolph, Wisconsin, other relatives and a host of friends. His wife passed away August 15, 1932. He came to Edgar, Nebraska, in December 1878, and purchased the farm he has lived on for 65 years. He united with the Presbyterian Church in 1905 and attended church services as long as his hearing was good. He was interested in fraternal orders having been a member of the Masonic Lodge for over forty years and took interest in civic welfare having served on the school board as township treasurer and was a member of the elevator board for a long time. Funeral services were held at the Edgar Presbyterian Church, Sunday, March 4, 1945, at 2:30 p.m., with James C. Cayton in charge. Mr. and Mrs. James C. Cayton sang "Nearer My God to Thee" and "Rock of Ages." Anna May Stewart was at the organ. Pallbearers were: Hans Holtz, Ernest Holtz, Edward Bottom, Maurice Hand, B. W.
