Description	:	John Thomas Shupperd fight against heart disease was complicated with pneumonia and the 89-year-old man died at 1:35 p. m. Monday after an illness of three days. He resided at 303 Oak street. Rev. Warren Dafoe will conduct last rites at 2 p. m. Thursday at Young's Funeral home where the body is lying in state. Burial is to be in Fairview. A native of Decatur county, Shupperd was the last survivor of a family of nine children. A native of Decatur county, Shupperd was the last survivor of a family of nine children. He was born June 20, 1865 to David and Mary (Plake) Shupperd and spent his early life on a farm west of Tipton. He and Nettie Coe were married here March 8, 1888. Ten children, two of whom, Albert and Arthur, are deceased, were born to the couple. Mrs. Shupperd died in 1938. At,one time a farmer, Mr. Shupperd also had been employed at Tipton Fire department in the early 1920's, and later was with a canning factory and a transfer company. Survivors include the children, Frank, Roy, Elmer, Ralph and Virgil Shupperd and Mrs. Mae Edwards, all of Tipton, Shirley, of Indianapolis, and Hershel, of Somerset. Twenty-eight grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild also survive.
